Occupied Jerusalem and Ramallah, September 13 (Petra) Dozens of illegal extremist Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday under heavy protection from Israeli police.
The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem reported that approximately 240 illegal hardline settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Al-Maghariba Gate.
They conducted provocative tours and performed Talmudic rituals, while Israeli police tightened security measures around the mosque and throughout Jerusalem's Old City.
Groups affiliated with the so-called "Temple Organisations" had called on their supporters to participate in mass incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and perform additional rituals there, citing celebrations of the Hebrew New Year.
Separately, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces launched a widespread campaign of raids and arrests across several governorates, detaining 25 Palestinians, including two children, amid a heavy military presence.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Society said the arrests were carried out on the grounds that those detained were "wanted" individuals.
